Laurent has a day off so his cousin Mikel hosted and showed us around the property. He greeted everyone with a cold drink, explained about the property and simply could not do more for you. You felt like you were invited into someone’s home. Such a beautiful place with only 12 people. Only 5 yrs old and built specifically for the Pilgrims needs. We are in a room for 4 people with our own bathroom. The beds are all low so no bunk beds, each with private curtains. So nobody can see each other even without curtains. Dinner was amazing and then Mikel explained all you needed to know for the next day’s walk.
Last time we stayed in Orisson. If you would like peace and quiet to rest and relax…..with only a total of 12 people you will kick yourself if you don’t stay here.
Must book ahead as it fills quickly.

Mikel greeted all the pilgrims so warmly with tea on arrival. This is a refuge of community and it is built throughout the evening there. The food is cooked in the kitchen and shared family style and the packed lunch is ready for you in the morning. Take it as lunch on the way is unlikely. I wasn’t sure about stopping between SJPDP and RV but glad I did, the hardest part of the climb is over by the time you reach Borda.

- Book in advance, it is small and even though an emergency bed or two is kept, you cannot guarantee space.
- take the trail mix instead of a drink in your packed lunch!

My son and I stayed here and absolutely loved it. The accommodations were well planned for pilgrims, and the dinner and breakfast were wonderful. I really want his soup recipe! He even packed us lunches for the next day's hike, which was very helpful.

I attempted to book a bed about five weeks ago.
I had a problem with the online facility.
I emailed the owner, but he was unhelpful.
So much for the wonderful hospitality.

My first night on the Camino and three weeks later I’m yet to find anywhere as good.
Comfortable, clean and quite. Dinner was delicious. The host was brilliant for getting everyone to introduce themselves. Breakfast was yummy too. Lunch made for the day following day was also an option.
Highly recommend breaking up the first day as the hills are steep!!

Laurent really cares about the pilgrim experience, and it shows. He begins with a comprehensive introduction on how albergues work, which can seem a little over the top, but means everyone is prepared even if they've never stayed in a hostel before (perfect for anyone unsure about shared accommodation!)

The dorms are lovely, spotlessly clean and comfortable, and if the weather allows there is a terrace with a fabulous view to enjoy a drink or two before dinner.

Dinner is a highlight. Not only is Laurent an excellent chef, preparing delicious local food, he ensures everyone gets to know one another, as the friends you meet here you will keep bumping into.

Breaking the stage into two days makes it much more manageable, plus you get the bonus of early morning views across the mountains (weather permitting!). Highly recommended!

Every other albergue pales in comparison to Borda—it is an exceptionally comfortable, welcoming, well-appointed respite with charm and solitude. Lorenzo is the quintessential host; his culinary expertise is exceptional. His “rules” may seem a bit over the top, but they make sense for improving the pilgrim experience.

We originally booked here because it would give us two days in the Pyrenees plus it included dinner and then breakfast.

Wow! That was a lucky decision. Imagine a place where a dozen people came together at the beginning of a great journey. The albergue was spotless and organized. I’m not sure what I was expecting from the guide books, but this was wonderful.

Unless you really want to get through the Pyrenees, book a spot here and take the extra day.

The host is wondeful, the location beautiful and the food is amazing. The views are fantastic. The whole place was spotless clean and the beds are comfortable and have a curtain. Book early if you plan to stay.
