Camino Portugues

To end of camino

Medical Center
Public Pool

A small town but with plenty of services, it is the first in a while that has suburban sprawl (however minor it is).

Along the bike path at the "upper" part of town you will find O’Bras, and at the end of the road is the church and albergue (with laundromat beneath) as well as a restaurant.

The names of Alvaiázere, and Alvorge further along the camino (as well as a great deal of other words beginning with "al-", both derive from Arabic. In the case of Alvaiázere it derives from ‘the falconer’ and in the case of Alvorge it comes from ‘the tower’. The tower is long gone, but the falcons may still be found.

The Road

There are several roads out of town, but the camino is well marked. Still, pay close attention to the arrows and if you are a pre-dawn walker, you are advised to check it out in advance.

Leave town by way of the road in front of the church, turning right at a B large palm tree.

Well positioned and you can choose shared or private rooms, sheets, blankets are supplied and breakfast also is an option. My favourite part however, was the stamping ceremony, the shot of port and the greeting everyone receives. John Brierly loved it also in his lifetime, now his daughter is taking that room named in his honour.

This place is a must do if you’re walking Camino portugués, the host Carlos is amazing making the best stamp with a lot of care. The nearby restaurant is nice too.

Go to alberque pinheiros.
Carlos is such a warm host en makes a whole awesome ritual of the stamp.
He can be a hard man to catch on the phone but call a thousand times and then he will call you back.
Don't miss this guy and his nice alberque

Camino de Sant…

Stayed at pinheiro. Carlos takes 10 mi uses to make a personal unique stamp. He's a great host. Recommend staying here

Camino de Sant…

Decent rooms and very calm. Food of the restaurant was also good, but their pricing is outrageous, 63€ for 2 pers. dinner is way too much. Be careful if you are more sensitive. It is plausible that price is "adjusted" according to the customer.

Camino de Sant…

I had a wonderful meal in Albergaria O Brás. I would highly recommend it. Didn’t sleep there though, but would have done so, if I thought it was open.

Camino de Sant…

Albergue pinheiro’s is not to be missed! Not the most modern facilities but the host Carlos is fabulous and makes an experience out of getting your credential stamped. We had dinner at restaurante O Brás which is another experience not to be missed. Most amazing attentive service and food. Such a good experience in this town!!
