The first building in Boente on your left is the Bar de los Alemanes, and this is the best bar in town. Further down the hill, the camino crosses the main road (caution) where two albergues and a few bars are located.

You can get a sello in the Iglesia de Santiago de Boente, and curiously enough the entrance that most pilgrims use leads directly to the sacristy. A collection of hundreds of prayer cards from around the world adorn the walls, and if the priest is not there to stamp your credencial he leaves it out for you to take matters into your own hands.

The Road

Walking past the church the camino turns right and descends more. The hills ahead are steep in both directions, take it easy.

This is a nicely renovated stay. However, it is the ONLY place to eat nearby. So, expect to pay for dinner and breakfast.

Laundry must also be paid for. If you want to wash anything, the host does it for you.

This stay is also not equipped with water, drinks or any snacks if you arrive after a long, hot day. The hostess told me to just drink from the tap if I was thirsty.

So, stop along the way and bring your own provisions.

The A/C must be “turned on and it takes 48 hours.” Our stay was very hot and uncomfortable as the heat reached 91 during the day and owner had switched off the A/C and the rooms have only one tiny window in the bathroom that does not reach the beds. So, it was miserable.

However, it is a clean and tidy place that is convenient to the Camino.

A wonderful brand new pension. We stayed in a room with twin beds snd private bathroom. Well equipped and super comfortable. They serve an excellent menu del dia till at least 9 pm. Highly recommended

I agree with above comments. This is right on Camino, great dinner & breakfast. The dinning room and check in office has been beautifully restored. This is not on all radar screens yet. A great alternative to the city scene. Rooms are new in a wonderful country setting. Host is a "real person" one of my best stays met some great people here.

Great place, spacious and beautiful. Wonderful dinner with grilled meat and peppers. Thomas and his wife were so kind. Perfect spot to push on to instead of staying in Melide

There is a beautifully restored former rectory that has opened this year in Boente called Rectoral de Boente. No dormitory but a lovely alternative for those staying in a pair or small group. The hosts are very kind and service minded, and they offer a delicious home made communal pilgrim dinner. Worth the splurge if you need a good rest. The rooms have air con and a chaise lounge or hammock outside each.
