The Road

At the far end of town, just past two bus stops that face each other, leave the N1 to your left. From here you will remain on this side of the N1 until reaching Pinheiro da Bemposta. The way is nearly continuous development but no services. You will pass Laginhas, Escusa, and Coche. At Coche, you begin following along the railway on a small dirt path.

Was welcomed at last minute after walking away from one just up the road. Clean beautiful room . Lovely hot showers . Plentiful food wine and made to feel very welcome . Pilgrims meal was a real treat with everyone helping out and was lots of fun
Highly recommend and can't thank Paulo enough for his kindness x

Trying this again! As mentioned in the other comment, Casa Catolica is excellent! Right on the Camino in a quiet country residential area. Paulo is personable, kind and has created a special Pilgrim atmosphere, a home away from home.

He's easy to contact through Facebook.

Please include this amazing Albergue on your app.

Excellent and highly recommend. It should be listed on this app. As mentioned in previous comment Paulo offers a home away from home. Directly on the Camino in a quiet country residential area. Cold drinks available, tea , coffee, fruit. Large yard with patio tables and chairs. He prepared the meal for our pilgrim dinner - a generous, personable host!

I booked ahead a twin room and received a confirmation email from the host. When I arrived she had already given the room away to somebody else and said she had no record of my booking, but I was able to show her own email to her. I was given a bunk room at the front of the house instead, which was noisy from the traffic on the busy national road running past the property. No pilgrim meal available. The host did help me book a pizza delivery from a local provider and was polite and kind to me. However, overall, a disappointing experience.

2.5km further on the route after Albergaria-a-Nova, in Branca, is an albergue called Casa Catolico. Paolo runs it and is warm & welcoming. We arrived on a swelteringly hot day and were offered cold drinks from the fridge. There was food for us to make a late lunch and we all ate dinner together - a mountain of delicious food. Beds were comfy, bathrooms clean. More than anything is the lovely community feel. Paolo translated between Spanish and English too, which helped a lot. It’s a donativo so you pay what you can/want to - it’s worth a good contribution if you have it. Such a fab place!

Camino de Sant…

There is a great café next to the main road. Don’t follow the signs, anyway that leads only to a small detour.
