The natural setting surrounding Grijó is the prettiest for a long stretch, high walls and lots of well-shaded spaces. The Monastery here is a particularly pretty place for a rest.

Very pleasant stay. Friendly hospitalerio. Best showers ever! For 10 euro it cannot be beat!

Although it is pricey it is so beautiful and worth it. The lady offers to pick you up from the path since it is a bit out of the way. Port on arrival and biscuits as well as a menu for breakfast which is included in the price. Feels like oasis!

We walked in the Albuerge at 1.30 pm. The beds was not ready and the room not clean. All smells musty.
The bedroom ceilings in the first floor was moldy.

We went and find an other place to sleep.

I recommend you do the same.

The Coutorural offers a welcome alternative if you want to stay somewhere a little more luxurious. It is well signposted as soon as you arrive in Grijó. On offer is a farmhouse style dwelling with high quality units in a secure courtyard. It’s a haven of peace and even has a modest swimming pool. The hosts are superb, going out of their way to ensure you have a comfortable stay. It’s not cheap - I paid €67 for one night in August - but it was worth it as a place to relax, recover and prepare for onward Camino.

Camino de Sant…

If you’re stopping here, the albergue is not located at the Monastery as indicated on the map. It is a small, yellow building on the left on the road as you approach the monastery. You must see the neighbor next door (first driveway beyond the albergue) who will let you in. He’s delightful. Bom Caminho!

If you stop here for a rest or overnight there is a lovely bakery just off ‘the way’ (50 metres) called Forninho do Mosteiro. Lovely welcoming staff and delicious food. Just before albergue (search google maps for bakery and you will find it)
