This albergue is indeed open and it is by far the friendliest albergue ever! Beds are firm and super comfortable, provide blankets and pillows if you ask for them and a clothesline in direct sunlight! What more do you want/need?

Carlos was an amazing host. The alburge was very busy( full) but our host was exceptional in his service to pilgrims. We loved it . (3 kiwis)

The hostel is run by Volunteers and it is very clean and homely. We were received by Carlos who was so warm and willing to share his experiences with us. They only open at 3pm but we were able to get in slightly earlier as he was already there.

We arrived in Azumbuja not intending to stay but realized we were there during the Feire de Maio, a 5 day bull-running festival. We stayed in this hostel and met our host Carlos who was kind and generous with his time. He facilitated a welcome gathering with all the pilgrims who had arrived and helped to understand what was about to happen in the town for the festival. He was concerned for our safety but ensured that we had a great first time experience watching the bulls and the fence jumping participants from a safe distance! Carlos created a community within minutes of arrival and greeted each nationality with at least a welcome in their own language! Basic dormitory style room with wash basin and line in a nice private courtyard.

We stayed in May 2022 and loved the hostel. Clean and comfortable. We could leave our packs before it opened (3pm) and come back after a long lunch. Lovely friendly volunteers. A very basic kitchen (just a fridge and a microwave and an old kettle) but lovely clean showers and toilets. Bunk beds in one very large room so it felt nice. Outdoor sink to wash clothes.
Recommend booking.
