It’s great that they accept reservations.. and provide some blankets
Otherwise.. there is only one shower place which you can share with another person 😬.. no shower cabins
And the garden is very small compared to the other albergues so far.
Barcelos is a lovely city

It is a donativo albergue. Showers are ok, hot water. Kithen is fine, but not really for big cooking. Small garden, so you can put your clothes out to dry. Paper sheets provided.
Lady is normally in the cafe next door, so tricky to get in, also if you leave for some shopping or dinner, not easy to get in, sometimes ringing the bell and another pilgrim is opening. Otherwise ok. Barcelos is a lovely city, i loved it more than Porto.

This is a lovely central Albergue. 20+ beds downstairs and upstairs. 3 mattresses in what I call "The Coffin", a low down space. Handy for those struggling to find a place to stay. Good toilets and hot showers. A place to hand wash and hang your clothes. A roomy kitchen area if you feel like cooking. 👍. Love this Albergue.

It’s a good location and nice courtyard. The shower was warm and they had blankets. There was WiFi too.

Definitely not open as of today 29th March 2024. Don't go there, looks like a building site.. Got lucky with Top'Otel, got a room at short notice.

It can get a bit crowded upstairs. We were lucky enough to stay in a smaller room downstairs. But it’s very clean, nice showers and bahrooms, with a spacious common area, kitchen, laundry, and a sunny patio where you can hang your clothes to dry. Very pleasant stay.

I hope this comment helps someone else - we stayed at Albergue Cidade de Barcelos in May and would not do it again. The bunk beds are comically squeaky - to the point that we felt we could not move in the night or risk waking up our bunkmates. The beds were uncomfortable, and be aware that no sheets (even disposable) are provided. Small window for large room and was very warm in May. Between these and normal hostel risks (snoring bunkmates), my husband and I literally got 30 minutes of sleep this night and had to take a rest day the next day instead of walking the 12 miles we had planned. A well respected albergue owner one day past on the Camino shared with us that it is well known that this place has terrible beds and everyone complains about it. Other than that, it had nice amenities - but it fails on the main point, which is giving you a good night’s rest before continuing your Camino.

The beds in this albergue squeak do loudly when you move you are afraid to move, and it makes it hard to sleep. To find out 2 days later that everyone further along the route knows about this is annoying as the owners obviously know and don’t care. The hosts were friendly and it’s a good location.

The host let us in and said she would come back but never did. Still a nice place to stay! Room was heated and cozy. Showers were okay, sometimes a bit cold.

Camino de Sant…

Very nice place and a very helpful and friendly host. Easy to pre-book a bed with a nice booking system you will be liked to when you send an email. Check-in was 3 pm(15.00).
